Travel day!! Sadly we had to leave Whistler. We woke up to gorgeous sunshine! It will be another great day for many skiers and snowboarders heading up the mountain, and for us we will have a nice drive back on the Sea to Sky highway. The AirBnB was perfect for us and was fully stocked, perfect location. It was StoneyCreek Sunpath Unit #37. There are so many condos/resorts to pick from in Whistler – just make sure to check the reviews and often you get what you pay for!
Bye bye Whistler! Until we come again…..

Our flights were changed to go out 4 hours later from Abbotsford to Calgary. Too bad – we were hoping to drive to Canmore/Banff in daylight so we could see the rockies on our drive!
But this did give us more time in BC, so we had time to make a few stops on the way back. We stopped at Horseshoe Bay, one of the spots where you can catch the BC Ferry to Vancouver Island. It is a cute little town and has some new condo development right on the water which is nice. Otherwise there are only about 1,000 permanent residents, as this is primarily a spot to catch the ferry to the island.

We brought Janet’s car back. Janet and Ian made a nice dinner for us – a nice sockeye BC salmon and roasted veggies! and some yummy local salsas. She invited Leigh her neighbour as well – she was so nice to open up her home to us as well.

We took an Uber to Abbotsford Airport for our 8 p.m. flight to Calgary. Abbotsford Airport is a nice small airport like Hamilton, Ontario, and about 30 minutes from Surrey BC.

We arrived in Calgary around 10:30 p.m. We got our rental truck – a Ford pick-up – nice and roomy! It was an hour drive to our AirBnB in Canmore. We knew we were driving in the mountains, but it was dark and we couldn’t see. We decided to stay in Canmore vs Banff, as many have suggested it is not so busy. Banff is only about 15 minutes away from Canmore.
We had a quick night cap, and off to bed. We look forward to see the views tomorrow!
