Since my cycle trip in Netherlands 2 years ago with two sisters , I am constantly looking at places to travel and cycle. This time we decided to look in our own backyard – beautiful Niagara!! I grew up and lived in Niagara until I was 19, and when I got married I moved to Hamilton (not too far away!). I often travel back to Niagara to visit family and friends and wineries! and every time I go, I seem to take a different way, as I love to travel through the countryside, and I know all the backroads so I can never get lost!
And I love Niagara Falls! I spent a lot of time here as a kid and teenager through my dating years with Bart.
I have cycled many times in Niagara – the parkway from Chippewa to Niagara Falls, Niagara-on-the-Lake (NOTL) to Niagara Falls, and Thorold to Welland.
The Greater Niagara Cycle Tour!! 140 km, and the the fun of planning started!!
Over the next 6 days, I am cycling with 5 sisters and we are going from Niagara-on-the-Lake to Thorold, to Port Colborne, to Sherkston Shores, to Niagara Falls and back to Niagara-on-the-Lake. Let the fun begin! It was a lot of planning over the last year, but I actually find the planning is just as fun as the actual trip.
Follow along….I plan to blog about our trip as we go. I will share where we stayed and ate, what we did and what we saw. I am hoping that you will get inspired to plan your own cycle trip, and maybe it will be this one – the Niagara Circle Tour! Almost 100% is on trails, and most of it is along water – along the Welland Canal and then on the Niagara Parkway along the Niagara River.
