June 27, 2024 – PEI to Graves Island Nova Scotia

We had one last visit in the morning with John and then off we went heading to Nova Scotia. We hit some construction which delayed us by 40 minutes or so. Tracy got this pic coming over the PEI Confederation Bridge. We have about a 5 hour trip today.

Frist stop – we found a winery. And a German one at that – Winegarden in New Brunswick. We did some taste testing and then made some purchases.

This was a sad story. As we were driving by Yankeetown Nova Scotia we saw there was a forest fire. When I goggled it I found out that a 22 year old was charge last May 2023 starting a fire that destroyed 150 homes by wild forest fire.

Welcome to Graves Island Provincial Park. We stayed here 13 years ago and it is great to stay here as a base as it is in the middle of Lunenburg/Mahon Bay and Halifax/Peggy Coves.

We arrive to Graves Island 5 minutes after Bob and Tracy. Just in time for happy hour!! I enjoy a nice Cab Franc from the Winegarden Winery.

What a meal we had tonight. Tracy got PEI scallops from her friends where they stayed one night before meeting up with us. We had these as appetizers – so good!!

And then we cooked up the fresh sea bass that young John caught and cleaned up for us. It was delicious and probably the best fish I have ever had.

Here is our view from our site. We are looking forward to spending 3 nights here and touring around the area. Cheers to another great day!!
