We had an awesome breakfast from our hosts Henk and Henrietta. What a fabulous stay we had at their place. when we left they gave us Hart, their own town’s baked treat. Her great grandfather was a baker in Spakenburg and created this recipe that is still used today. You decorate the Hart as you like for special occasions.
We had our route entered in the fietsnoop app with all our numbers and it worked great! Thank goodness as otherwise we would have got lost using google maps. We cycled on many different paths today. If I lived in Amsterdam, it would be so great as in no time you can be in the country cycling! We got quite a bit of rain today. Also wind! But it was warm so we didnt get cold and we were prepared with our rain gear.
A big thank you to Jasper who met us at point 55 and didn’t complain when he had to wait 45 minutes! He helped us get through Amsterdam which was so wonderful! Also a big thank you to Wouter and Zu in Amsterdam who let us stay at their place, keep our luggage there, and drove us to our hotel near the airport. We got our suitcases repacked and weighed (all those souvenirs I kept tying to my bike) and ready as Debbie and I have to be at the airport for 7 am. We had one last fish dinner together at the hotel and a cheers to an awesome trip!
Thank you to all of you who followed our blog. Thank you to all our family and friends in the Netherlands who met us, helped us, shared info, cycled with us, treated us, had coffee, tea, drinks and cheers with us, and are now a part of our memories of an awesome trip!
Jasper took a picture of us randomly cycling through Vondelpark at the end of our trip, after cycling almost 60 kms in the rain, and check out our faces! Pure happiness!! I love the Netherlands and seeing it from the view from a bike was the best!
